Monroe Infrared was founded in 1984 by Air Force veteran Bruce Monroe after he helped a local utility adopt early, niche infrared technology and spun that specialized work into a standalone business. Monroe began with inspection services, then expanded into training and equipment sales, becoming an early pioneer of infrared for electrical safety and reliability.

Bruce ran the company for 25 years, growing it from one utility customer to national service. Christopher Casey took the reins from Bruce who retired in 2011, leading the company and driving growth, including launching their aerial drone division about eight years ago to expand into building and roof moisture detection alongside core utility electrical inspections. Monroe marked 40 years in 2024.

In 2025, Monroe Infrared joined Guidant Power, continuing to operate from Brunswick, Maine and Albuquerque, NM serving customers nationwide across inspections, training, and equipment sales while gaining broader resources. Bruce Monroe, now 91 years old, remains a testament to the company's enduring legacy and the vision that launched the business.
